Welcome back to the second weekly update from myself in Year R. I hope you enjoyed seeing the first post and getting a flavour of what we have been up to this week. Your children continue to amaze! This week the children have shown resilience and that they are ready to learn, adapting quickly to our routines. I have been extremely impressed with the children’s ability to settle first thing in the morning setting a brilliant platform for learning and developing. We have continued to show off our impressive ninja skills walking down the corridors; we have had our first PE lesson and got changed very well; drawn the people and animals who live in our house; dressed up; played with the Year 5 and 6’s; learnt French; built an obstacle course; wrote our names; found matches and objects that are the same; read our key text Rainbow Fish and even started to retell the story and of course danced a lot.
Coming up next week
Next week, we will continue to spend time getting to know each and every child whilst starting to add more to our routine, including our first full Phonics, maths and forest school lessons. You should have received an email with all of the forest school group information, please speak to a member of Team Reception or the office if you have not. Children will come to school in their forest school kit.
How can you help at home
Thank you to everyone that has already brought in a baby photo. If you have not brought one in yet, then please do ASAP for our display in class. Please can you ensure your child has a pair of wellies at school, these will be kept here so they have access to them every day. Finding objects that our the same and using mathematical language such as ‘same’ and ‘match’ when you are out and about will reinforce the learning. The children will not be sent home with a reading book yet, we aim to start full phonics lessons the w/c 16th September, next week! Thank you for all your support with your child’s development.
Finally, please always come and speak to a member of Team Reception if you have any queries, questions or to pass on anything we need to know, face to face is always best. If this is not possible, then please contact the office and the team will pass on any messages.
