This term we have participated in lots of activities in Forest School to encourage the children to work well with each other in teams and pairs. We have been doing outdoor activities to develop trust and cooperation with our friends, such as blindfold trails, giant marble runs and scavenger hunts. We have also enjoyed many creative tasks, exploring the beautiful colours and shapes of the fallen autumn leaves. The children made amazing leaf pictures, using the different shaped leaves to create collages of animals and insects. They enjoyed leaf printing and leaf rubbing. We have also started using some tools in Forest School, skills that we will continue to develop next term. The fantastic hedgehogs the children created hopefully made it home to you, without too many of the spikes falling out!! They worked hard to sand down the wood and hammer in the nails for spikes and we were really impressed with how determined the children were to complete this task. We have finished the year with a Christmas treasure hunt, in which the children had to find answers to questions about Christmas around the field and Forest School. We’re looking forward to plenty more fun with Year 2 at Forest School next term. Please keep sending the children in with lots of layers, extra socks, hats, waterproof gloves and wellies.
Wishing you all a restful break over the festive season.
