Brill School represented brilliantly at the Ascot Cross Country event this half term, competing against a strong field of runners from various Bucks schools. Our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children raced in both boys’ and girls’ events, achieving fantastic results, many placing in the top 10, with some even securing first and third place out of over 50 runners!

We are thrilled to have brought home three trophies; winning the overall school trophy, the girls’ team trophy and securing runners-up in the boys’ team event.
Our Yr 3&4 gymnasts made it through to the final of the Bucks & MK School Games County Gymnastics competition, an achievement in itself, and there was much excitement when they attended the final last week. The girls performed brilliantly, finishing in 4th place out of 9 schools.
Our Yr 5&6 Mixed Hockey team recently took part in a competition at John Hampden School, showcasing their skills and teamwork, winning all their games. A humble team who praised each other the entire time and showed sportsmanship throughout. Not to be outdone, the Yr 3&4 team followed up a week later at a tournament with John Hampden and Barley Hill Schools. All teams played each other and Brill won in the final after winning all 4 of their games.

Both boys and girls football teams have had several fixtures lately. Yrs 5&6 Girls never stopped battling in a tough match against a good side, to draw 2-2 vs John Hampden School, and in a very windy and cold match drew 1-1 with Barley Hill School last week. The Yrs 5&6 Boys achieved a 1-1 draw vs Oakley, and a 4-0 win against Quainton recently. Illness prevented the last match of the league going ahead against Waddesdon last week, but we’re hoping they can replay this after Easter, so watch this space!
But beyond the scoreboards and medals, across all of these events, our children displayed our school values of honesty, hope, courage and compassion in abundance. They showed resilience when required, outstanding sportsmanship, unwavering support for their teammates and humility in victory, often commented on by opposition coaches and supporters.
We couldn’t be more proud of them all – Go Brill!
