We’re incredibly grateful to our PTA for their ongoing support in enriching our pupils’ learning experiences. Thanks to their generous contributions, children across all year groups have been able to take part in a variety of exciting activities recently. Our PTA not only helps subsidise class trips but also fund a wide range of enrichment opportunities throughout the year.
Let’s Dance! An Unforgettable Day with DanceDays
What a treat it was to welcome DanceDays into our school for a vibrant day of dance workshops. Our talented instructor, Claudia, led us through a high-energy exploration of multicultural dance styles including salsa, Chinese traditional dance, African rhythms, flamenco, and more.
Claudia’s enthusiasm was infectious, she encouraged us to try new moves, collaborate as a team, and perform with confidence. The children absolutely loved the sessions and fully embraced the chance to express themselves through movement. Beyond the fun and music, the workshops also helped build important life skills such as independence and resilience. A massive thank you to Claudia and DanceDays for such an inspiring, joyful experience. It’s a day we won’t soon forget!
Bringing Science to Life: Earth Science Oxford Visits KS2
Our Key Stage 2 pupils were recently treated to a hands-on scientific adventure, thanks to a visit from Earth Science Oxford. The engaging ‘Fossils and Volcanoes’ workshops brought earth sciences vividly to life, combining fascinating facts with real-world artefacts and interactive demonstrations.
Years 3 and 4 explored the explosive world of volcanoes, handling igneous rocks and even donning a volcanologist’s suit! Meanwhile, Years 5 and 6 journeyed into the past through an impressive fossil collection, learning about fossilisation and the ancient environments these relics came from.
The workshops captivated students from start to finish, sparking curiosity and leaving them with a deeper appreciation of geology and natural history.
Crime and Punishment in Year 4
Year 4 had a fantastic day exploring Oxford Castle and Prison as part of their ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic. The children were fascinated to learn about the history of the prison and the lives of its inmates, some of whom were as young as seven! They discovered what hard labour involved, with a few brave volunteers even giving it a try! The class climbed to the top of the tower and the mound to enjoy impressive views over Oxford, and they explored the eerie prison cells. There was plenty of excitement when Miss Marriott tested out the pillory and stocks!
Thank You!
These wonderful opportunities wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our PTA. Their dedication and generosity make a huge difference in our school community, helping to create rich, memorable experiences that go beyond the classroom.
