School Games Day 2024

Brill School Games Day 2024 – What a day! It started with an amazing opening ceremony from our Year 5&6 dancers and our whole school choir with a rendition of ‘I believe’, a motivating song to start the day. The EYFS and KS1 carousel followed, which saw all children getting involved in lots of different sporting activities, competing and earning points for their houses. There was football dribbling, water transfer, an obstacle course and even crossing the river on stilts. It was lovely to see all children getting involved, showing determination to win points. Following this was the KS2 inter house sport section of the day. All children got to play netball, hockey, tag rugby and a current school favourite of ‘kick it’ rounders. Again, some brilliant talent on show, but lovely to see children playing in mixed teams, encouraging each other and earning points. After a quick break for lunch, we were back out for the afternoon races. We saw some brilliant races, with quite a few tough decisions on the finish line for myself (Miss Butler) and Mrs White. A personal favourite of mine was the whole school relay, which involved one child from each year group per house, and I felt very proud watching the Year R children start the race and Year 6 end it. A true whole school effort and an extremely uplifting and exciting way to end the day! I am very proud of all the children giving everything a go despite not always feeling confident. All School sports values were on display throughout the day and well done to Bernwode for coming out victorious!

A special thanks to the PTA for providing the medals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in each race, awarded to some very proud and happy children!
