Sports Week Roundup

What an amazing array of sports we’ve taken part in recently! Our Yr 3&4 dancers set the tone on 3rd July at their Dance Show, and then we launched into Sports Week with District Athletics on Monday, followed by Wheelchair Basketball, Forest School and Swimming events throughout the week, culminating in School Games Day on Friday! See a round up of all events below.

Year 3 & 4 Princes Risborough Dance Show

✨ We are SO proud of our amazing Year 3/4 dancers! ✨

On Thursday 3rd July, our talented pupils took to the stage at the Princes Risborough Dance Show, performing in front of a live audience alongside other primary and secondary schools. They were professional, polished and performed with huge smiles and real enjoyment. An absolute credit to our school — we couldn’t be prouder of their confidence and performance quality!

Buckinghamshire District Athletics

🏆WE DID IT! 🏆

After three long years, Brill School has brought the Bucks District Athletics trophy back home — and what a way to do it!

An absolute masterclass in sporting talent from our Key Stage 2 superstars on Monday. From individual events to the relays, the consistency, grit and passion the children showed was incredible. It was a real pleasure watching the children shine at such at Stoke Mandeville Athletics Stadium — not just because of their talent, but because of the way they carry themselves.

The perfect mix of competitive spirit and humble hearts. They cheered each other on, gave it everything they had, and made us all so proud.

Wheelchair Basketball

What an incredible experience at Brill School on Tuesday 8th July! 🏀♿️

Our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils took part in wheelchair basketball workshops — a fun, inspiring and challenging session for everyone involved. The children had the chance to play in their own sports wheelchairs and were expertly coached by a disabled athlete. We’re so proud of our pupils for their mature, open-minded and respectful approach. They embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, sensitivity and real team spirit. 🌟 A brilliant day of learning, sport and inclusion! #BrillSchool #WheelchairBasketball

Forest School

What an amazing Forest School Day at Brill School! 🌿🍃

Led by our brilliant Forest School leaders, Mrs Tuffley and Mrs Chisholm, every year group had the chance to get stuck into a day packed with teamwork, collaboration, resilience and outdoor challenge. From problem-solving activities to nature-based exploration, the children showed fantastic enthusiasm and curiosity. It was a brilliant example of outdoor learning at its best — taking fun, inquiry and adventure to a whole new level! 🌳✨ Thank you to our wonderful staff and pupils for making it such a memorable day. #BrillSchool #ForestSchool #OutdoorLearning #Teamwork #Resilience

Swimming Gala

🏊‍♂️🌞 What a fantastic Swimming Gala at Brill School on Thursday 10th July! 🌞🏊‍♀️

All year groups took to the pool, competing in individual races and as part of their house teams — Rushbed, Bernwode and Chinkwell. Every point earned contributed towards the final total for Sports Week, building excitement ahead of our School Games Day! It was wonderful to see the children putting into practice everything they’ve learned in swimming this year. They showed confidence, determination and great skill in the water. We’re so proud of their positive attitudes and team spirit — and the sunshine made the day even more enjoyable! Well done everyone! 🌊👏

School Games Day

🌞🏆 What an incredible School Games Day at Brill School! 🏆🌞

Despite the hot weather, our amazing pupils, staff and families made it a fantastic day to remember. The children stayed hydrated, took regular shade breaks and showed real resilience, determination and team spirit throughout. We kicked off the day with our Key Stage 1 carousel, where all the children took part in a range of multi-skill activities. One excited pupil summed it up perfectly: “That was the best morning of my life!”

In the afternoon, Key Stage 2 pupils competed in inter-house tournaments for Hockey, Netball, Tag Rugby and Frisbee Rounders, collecting valuable points for their house teams — Rushbed, Bernwode and Chinkwell. The atmosphere was fun, competitive and filled with community spirit. A huge thank you to all the families who came along to cheer from the sidelines — the children loved having you there! We finished the day with the much-anticipated races, and despite the heat, the children gave it their all, showing confidence, resilience and incredible determination. The support from peers was heart-warming, with pupils cheering each other through every success and stumble.

A massive well done to every single child for their effort, sportsmanship and teamwork, and a special congratulations to Bernwode, winners of the School Games Day Cup 2025! 🎉🏆

An enormous thank you to our brilliant staff team for working so hard to make the day safe, smooth and full of fun. And a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful PTA and parent community for funding the gazebos, ice lollies, our brand-new trophy and medals, which added a professional touch and kept spirits high. And thank you to Emily for keeping everyone cool with delicious iced coffees throughout the day! We’re also so grateful to those who helped with equipment, packed away gazebos and supported us in so many ways — even at the end of a hot, sticky afternoon!

What a fantastic celebration of sport, teamwork and school spirit. Thank you, everyone! 🌟
