At Brill we believe in developing an understanding of how we are all responsible for creating a healthy world in which we all live. To do this we have signed up to the Eco Schools Award. This award provides us with the tools to look at some of the large global issues such as climate change, biodiversity-loss, or plastic pollution in a way that empowers our young people to make a difference in our school, our local community and beyond.
There are 10 topics which include Waste, Biodiversity, Energy, Improving School Grounds, Water, Marine, Transport, Healthy Living, Litter and Global Citizenship. These break large, global issues like climate change into more manageable and directed themes that prompt our young people to consider environmental changes that they can make in our school and everyday lives.
Our Eco School Council is made up of children from all classes. Each year they choose three of the 10 topics that we will focus on in school and come up with ideas for how we will achieve this. We are very proud to have been awarded our Green Flag in recognition of our hard work.
