Robert Jenning’s ran a training session for staff raising the awareness of Dyscalculia and math difficulties and what the indicators of these may be. Staff took the time to discuss different indicators and the wider impact of these maths difficulties. Robert gave an overview of assessments, discussing who can assess Dyscalculia and the usefulness of Dyscalculia checklists. We then went on to look at the ‘Why’ of why some learners find it difficult to learn maths and then finally the support and resources that can be provided in class. It was very informative and all staff came away feeling more informed and excited to try out some new approaches.
