It has been a lovely start to our Forest School sessions this term with some beautiful sunny afternoons getting to know each other. All the children have been enthusiastic as they have searched for their specially made wooden name disks (carefully created by local volunteer Tony Bostrum, an advocate for the positive benefits of outdoor learning) at the beginning of each session, thoroughly enjoying the challenge of being the quickest to spot their own! We have explored how we can recreate the main features of our faces using natural materials and even drawn a self -portrait using mud “paint”. There has been some great teamwork and problem-solving skills as within smaller groups, they have created a variety of dens using large sticks. It has been great to see their enjoyment of being outside and we look forward to more sessions after the half-term holiday.
Please ensure you send in suitable clothes, including their own waterproofs for your child’s Forest School sessions – it makes a huge difference if they are suitably dressed for the weather! Thank you for your support!
