It has been lovely to have this class again for Forest School this term. We have continued with our theme of minibeasts and the children have used stencils to create minibeast bunting. They crushed different coloured chalk with pebbles and mixed the powder with water to create chalk paints, which they used to paint the bunting flags. The bunting looks fantastic and is currently decorating our Forest School ‘workshop’ but will make it home to you at some point.
They also loved making potions in the forest, using herbs, leaves and mud to make some very interesting concoctions, which they told me were used in a variety of powerful magic spells!
Having read the book, ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ in class, Mr Backhouse gave us the task of creating our own ‘Wild Things’, using natural materials. After designing these in class, the children collected all sorts of materials, such as leaves, twigs, acorns and sycamore keys, from around the school field to make their monsters. Their creations were incredibly imaginative and just a little bit crazy!
