Year 4 have demonstrated a real curiosity about their Ancient Egyptian topic, transferring knowledge with great enthusiasm into our Forest School setting. They have thrown themselves into creating hieroglyphic messages; firstly, using mud onto an old bedsheet then onto individual clay cartouches. Despite Storm Bert and Darragh battering Forest School during our absence, Year 4 showed themselves to be creative problem-solvers and collaborative team players with some impressive pyramids built using sticks and natural clay that withstood the fierce winds between our Forest School dates. Our final session involved a macabre zest competing for the most elaborate tomb complete with a mummified individual, canopic jars and inventive traps to deter the most wily of tomb raiders!
We have thoroughly enjoyed this term’s Forest School – Year 4 have got stuck into all the activities with energy, resilience and teamwork.
Wishing you all a restful break (from washing all the muddy Forest School kit!) over the festive season.
