Welcome to the first weekly update from myself in Year R. As the catchy name suggests, this will be a weekly post to give you a flavour of what we’ve been up to this week, what might be coming up in the following weeks and some lovely photos so you can see your little ones in action.
It has been a great first week in Year R. The children have settled in brilliantly and have really impressed me with their attitude to learning. The way the children have settled first thing in the morning has been excellent and many other members of staff have commented on their positive attitude, so I am a proud teacher already! This week has been about making sure all our little ones are settled, understand the routine and for us to start to get to know them. We have been ninja’s walking down the corridors; we have played with a parachute; completed our helping hands; danced a lot; I have had countless cups of hot chocolate made for me from the mud kitchen; we have read stories; worked in our secret writing club and lots lots more.
This week
This week, we will continue to spend time getting to know each and every child whilst starting to add more to our routine, including our first PE lesson.
How can you help at home
Thank you to everyone that has already brought in a baby photo. If you have not brought one in yet, then please do ASAP for our display in class. Please can you ensure your child has a pair of wellies at school, these will be kept here so they have access to them every day. The children will not be sent home with a reading book yet, we aim to start phonics lessons the w/c 16th September, after our few weeks of really settling and getting to know all children. Thank you for all your support with your child’s development.
Finally, please always come and speak to a member of Team Reception if you have any queries, questions or to pass on anything we need to know, face to face is always best. If this is not possible, then please contact the office and the team will pass on any messages.
