YEAR R BLOG – WEEK COMMENCING 25TH MARCH 2024 – SPRING 2

This week we have been very busy, so busy we forgot to take lots of photos, sorry!

In maths, we have been looking at 3D shapes and complex patterns. The children were given the task of sorting out the 3D shapes and matching them to their name, we also put the children into groups of 3 and asked them to make their own complex pattern. The children set off and came up with amazing ideas! For example, one group said “head, shoulder, head, shoulder, head” and demonstrated their pattern! Another said we could make a line of boy, girl, boy, girl! We continued looking at odd and even, the children did an activity to create their own monsters, one with even features and one with odd features!

On our writing table this week, the children have been writing a recall of Jaspers beanstalk (with a little help from the adults), they did a fabulous job!

On our drawing table, the children have been colouring in easter eggs.

In French, we looked at the easter story and how you say all your favourite things to eat over the easter period, like œufs de Pâques en chocolat (chocolate easter eggs) and how to say happy easter, joyeuses Pâques.

In PE with Mrs Jolley, we have continued looking at gymnastics and the children were put into groups. The children were then given different shapes to make in their groups, for example a love heart and different letters which then spelt out Easter! How fun!

Outside, the children have been exploring in the wet sand, making sand castles and volcanos! They have also been making lots of exciting creations using the big building blocks, one group made a ‘dog fun house’ when Miss Cruickshank brought her puppy, Myla, in for a play!

Speaking of Myla coming in for a play, the children were amazing! All were gentle and kind to her, Myla loved her visit and didn’t want to go!

Thank you for another brilliant week. We hope you all have a lovely easter holidays and we cannot wait to see you all back at school!
